The territory of ten Greek cities founded by Alexander the Great the Great and successors about 323 CE to the east of the Sea of Galilee. It seems to have been a cosmopolitan area with several languages in use. Jesus went through this region (Mark 7:31) before presiding over the feeding of 4,000 people (Mark 8:1–10).
